From humble beginnings to market leader.

1953

  • The foundation is laid. In 1953, four local attorneys recognized they are better together: Orville Troy, his son, Ken Troy, Gene Ruehlmann, and Lucien Strauss
  • The firm opens its first office in the Fountain Square Building in downtown Cincinnati, OH, an area that the firm will later help transform and revitalize.

1954 – 1981

Over the years the firm implemented strategic growth and expanded its reach beyond the region by adding lawyers in diverse practice areas. The client relationships deepen as the firm victories stack up.  In 1981, Gene Ruehlmann leaves the firm and it was renamed Strauss & Troy.

1990 – 1999

  • The firm’s vision, passion, and commitment to the region expands with the addition of the Covington, Kentucky office in the Covington RiverCenter Complex. The firm enjoys continued success in an area that it worked with its client partners to help develop.
  • The firm’s commitment to the people of this area is cemented with the creation of the Make A Difference (MAD) team specifically founded to sponsor and support at-risk populations, arts and entertainment, health and wellness, and new business – all causes important to the firm and the local community.
  • With growth and in mind, the Cincinnati office moves to the Federal Reserve Building on 4th Street.

2000 – 2013

  • Strauss Troy becomes the title sponsor of Market on the Square, a nod to the revitalization of the Central Business District and our humble beginnings in the Fountain Square Building.
  • The firm rebrands as Strauss Troy, dropping the & and with it, what was left of the expected corporate law firm experience.
  • The firm continues to help revitalize the region through its real estate practice as Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky experience their own renaissance.
  • The firm proudly becomes the presenting sponsor of the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Fast 55 awards, an event celebrating the region’s fastest-growing companies.

2018 – Today

We continue to sponsor many community interests in various categories that are near and dear to us.

The firm continues today as the preeminent midsized firm in the region with the stated goal of providing a different legal experience.
